Roseate Terns Found On Sable Island!

October 20, 2006 – The endangered bird species, Roseate Terns, have been found recently on Sable Island.

May 4, 2006 - Sable Island Preservation Trust has been presented with a valuable contribution of $2,100 as a result of the spontaneous initiative of the Nova Scotia employees of SaiWoo Contracting in Halifax.

January 31, 2005 - The Departments of Fisheries & Oceans and Environment announced today that they will recognize the national historical, economical, environmental and scientific importance of Sable Island by committing to the continuation of a protective human presence.

Federal Government Announces Steps To Ensure The Protection Of Sable Island Into The Future

OTTAWA-January 28 or 29, 2005 (TBC) - The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of the Environment and the Honourable Geoff Regan, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) today announced the federal government's plans to continue a year-round human presence on Sable Island and to directly manage the Island's Weather Station.

Sable Island's Future, A National Treasure At Risk

Sable Trust's goal is the long-term conservation and preservation of Sable Island. A continuous human presence is necessary to conserve and protect the Island.
